PRIVATE TOUR TO ATHENS (HALF DAY 5-6 HOURS)

ITINERARY

HALF DAY: ATHENS (5 -6 HOURS)

Our driver will pick you up from your hotel, and we’ll start our private tour by visiting the historic rock of the Acropolis and its unique architectural monuments dating back 25 centuries, including the greatest of all, the Parthenon.
Our next stop will be the Temple of Zeus and the Panathinaikon Stadium, where the first modern international Olympic games took place in 1896.
Then, we’ll drive past a few historic New Classical buildings in the center of Athens to get an idea of how the city used to look a century ago. Finally, we will spend time in the Plaka—an ancient commercial area at the foot of the Acropolis, where you can see Greek and Roman ruins and do some shopping.

PRIVATE TOUR TO ANCIENT CORINTH (HALF DAY 5-6 HOURS)

HALF DAY: ATHENS – CORINTH - ATHENS (5 -6 HOURS)

Our driver will pick you up from your hotel and start our private tour by moving west of Athens, following the coastal road to Corinth.
The first stop will be at the Isthmus of Corinth at the Canal, which connects the Saronic with the Corinthian Gulf. Impressive engineering at the end of the 19th century, the Canal is 6,2 km long, 80 m high, and 25 m wide.
Periandros first attempted to open a canal in the 6th century BC. Later, the Roman Emperor Nero restarted the excavations, a significantly expensive project that was dropped off soon after his death.
From the 8th century BC, a paved road was built following the landscape from side to side so ships could be pulled from one Gulf to the other, avoiding the very dangerous and lengthy round of the Peloponnese.
Our next stop will be at the Archaeological Site of Ancient Corinth, where we will visit the Museum and the Ancient Agora.
At the Ancient Agora, we will see the Altar of the Apostle Paul, where he stood to address the Jews and residents of Ancient Corinth to convert them to Christianity.
On the way back to Athens and not far from Corinth, we’ll have a quick visit to the Ancient Port of Kechries, one of the two ports that used to serve the city at the time and from which the Apostle Paul started his trip back to the Middle East.

We can have a quick lunch in Plaka or on our way to Sounion, somewhere along the beautiful coastline of Athens. After an hour and a half of driving along the scenic coast, we will reach Sounion, where the Temple of Poseidon overlooks the Aegean Sea. It is a spectacular view to behold. In the late afternoon, we'll drive back to Athens.

The next stop will be the Archaeological Site of Epidaurus, where we will visit the Museum, the famous Theatre with its unique acoustics, and the area of the Asclepιeion, the Ancient Hospital named after the God of medicine Asclepius.
The next stop was the city of Nafplio, which was the first Capital of Modern Greece for a few years after the Independence of Greece from the Ottoman Empire.
We can have lunch in the old part of the Town and then visit the tourist area on the narrow streets of this traditional part of Nafplio.
After Nafplio, we’ll visit the Archaeological site of Mycenae, the Palace of Agamemnon, the Museum, and the Treasure of Atreus. Late afternoon, we return to Athens.

DELPHI DAY TOUR (FULL DAY 8-9 HOURS)

Our driver will pick you up from your hotel, and we will start your Private Tour by moving North out of Athens towards Delphi.
The first stop will be before Delphi at the monastery of Hosios Lucas, located in a beautiful area close to Distomo.
This ornate Byzantine-style monastery dates back to the 11th century and features mosaics and frescoes.
After we visit the monastery, we will drive to the Archaeological site at Delphi, which includes the Temple of Apollo, the most famous Oracle of the Ancient World for more than 16 centuries, the Theater, the Stadium in which they used to host the athletic events of Pythia, the Holy Fountain of Castalia, and the Archaeological Museum. Delphi has been on the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites since 1987.
After the visit, we can have a traditional lunch at the village of Delphi and have a quick stop at the very scenic and traditional Arachova before we return to Athens in the late afternoon.
