DAY 1: ATHENS – CORINTH CANAL – EPIDAURUS - NAFPLIO

Our driver will pick you up from your hotel, and we will start your Private Tour by moving west out of Athens, following the coastal road to Corinth. The first stop will be the Isthmus of Corinth, where the Canal connecting the Saronic with the Corinthian Gulf will be seen. Very Impressive engineering at the end of the 19th century when the Canal was constructed, and it is 6,2 km long, 80 m high, and 25 m wide. Periandros first attempted to open a canal there in the 6th century BC. Later, Roman Emperor Nero started the excavations again—an expensive project abandoned soon after his death. From the 6th century BC, a paved road called Diolkos was built following the landscape between the two gulfs from side to side so they could pull the ships over the land, avoiding the dangerous and long way around the Peloponnese. The next stop will be at the Archaeological Site of Epidaurus, where you will visit the Museum, the famous Theatre with its excellent acoustic, and the archaeological site of Asclepιeion, an ancient hospital named after the god of medicine Asclepius. The next stop will be at the city of Nafplio, the first Capital of Modern Greece, for a few years after Greece gained independence from the Ottoman Empire. We can have lunch in the Old Town and visit the tourist area on the narrow streets of this traditional part of Nafplio.  Stay overnight in Nafplio. 

DAY 2: NAFPLIO – MYCENAE - SPARTA

The next day, we can visit the Palamidi Castle before we move on to our next destination: the Archaeological site of Mycenae, the Palace of Agamemnon, the Museum, and the Treasure of Atreus. Later, we'll drive to the city of Sparta. Stay overnight in Sparta. 

DAY 3: SPARTA – MYSTRAS – ANCIENT OLYMPIA

The next day, we will visit the Archaeological site of Mystras, the ruins of a fortified Byzantine Town built at the foot of Mount Taygetos in the 12th century, just 5 km from the city of Sparta. We can have lunch there or back in Sparta before we visit the Archaeological Museum, the Memorial and Statue of the famous King of Sparta Leonidas, and the Museum of Olives and Greek Olive Oil. Our next stop will be the village of Olympia. We will stay overnight in Olympia. 

DAY 4: ANCIENT OLYMPIA - DELPHI

The next day, we will visit the archaeological site, the stadium where the ancient Olympic games were held, and the two museums on the site, the Archaeological Museum and the Olympic Museum. Also, we can visit the Technological Museum of Archimedes in the village of Olympia. After our visit, we can have lunch in Olympia and then drive to Patra, where we will visit the Historic – since 1861 – Achaia Clauss Winery. (Optional)  Leaving the winery and the city of Patra behind us, we'll drive over the suspended bridge of Rio, the longest in Europe (3,200 m), cross over to Mainland Greece, and have a short stop at the picturesque city of Nafpaktos before we carry on the coastal road of the Corinthian Gulf, one of the most beautiful and scenic roads in the World, with a final stop the village of Delphi. Stay overnight in Delphi. 

DAY 5: DELPHI – ARACHOVA - METEORA

The following day, the first stop will be at the Archaeological site of Delphi, which includes the Temple of Apollo, the most famous Oracle of the Ancient World for more than 16 centuries, the Theater, the Stadium that hosted the athletic events of Pythia, the Holy fountain of Castalia and the Archaeological Museum. Delphi has been on the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites since 1987. After you visit the site, you can have a traditional lunch at the village of Delphi. Later, we'll drive to the picturesque Arachova for a quick stop before we cross the Holy mountain of Parnassus towards Meteora, a place uniquely sculptured by nature. We'll stay overnight in the Town of Kalambaka, nestled beneath the mountain, and view the spectacular sight of the rocky mountain lit by night. Stay overnight in Kalambaka. 

DAY 6: METEORA – THERMOPYLAE - ATHENS

After breakfast, we'll visit a few monasteries that perch atop the magnificent rocks, reaching 600 m. UNESCO has characterized the monasteries of Meteora as a unique phenomenon of cultural heritage and included them in the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites in 1988. After our visit, we can have lunch in the Town of Kalambaka and then return to Athens with a short stop at the memorial of the battlefield of Thermopylae and the monument of the Spartan King Leonidas, who fought with his 300 men and the 700 Thespians of Demophilos, against hundreds of thousands of Persians and all the Greeks were killed. In the late afternoon, we will arrive back in Athens.
