Itinerary

DAY 1: ATHENS – CORINTH CANAL – ANCIENT CORINTH – KALAVRITA – MEGA SPILAIO – CAVE OF THE LAKES – DIMITSANA

Our driver will pick you up from your hotel, and we'll start your Private Tour by moving west out of Athens, following the coastal road to Corinth.
The first stop will be the Isthmus of Corinth, where the Canal connecting the Saronic with the Corinthian Gulf will be seen. Very Impressive engineering at the end of the 19th century when the Canal was constructed, and it is 6,2 km long, 80 m high, and 25 m wide. Periandros first attempted to open a Canal there in the 6th century BC. Later, Roman Emperor Nero started the excavations again, an expensive project abandoned soon after his death. From the 6th century BC, a paved road called Diolkos was built following the landscape between the two gulfs from side to side so they could pull the ships over the land, avoiding the dangerous and long way around the Peloponnese.
The next stop will be at the Archaeological Site of Ancient Corinth, where we will visit the Museum and the Ancient Agora. At the Ancient Agora, we will see the Altar of the Apostle Paul, where he stood to address the Jews and residents of Ancient Corinth to convert them to Christianity. Leaving Corinth, we will drive on the coastal road facing the Corinthian golf until the village of Diakopto.
There, you will board the train of the Cog Railway, which connects Diakopto—a spectacular and unforgettable ride through the gorge of Vouraikos—and the Town of Kalavrita. The driver will pick you up from the train station, and you can have lunch in Kalavrita before you visit Mega Spilaio, the oldest probably Monastery in Greece, built in the 3rd century AD.
The next stop will be at the Cave of the Lakes, a unique and rare beauty cave. After our visit, we'll travel towards the picturesque village of Dimitsana. Stay overnight in Dimitsana.

DAY 2: DIMITSANA – MONASTERY OF PHILOSOPHER - NAFPLIO

The next day, we will visit the Open-Air Water Power Museum in Dimitsana and the Monastery of the Philosopher, built in the gorge next to Lousios.
The next stop is the City of Nafplio, where we can have lunch, and later, we can visit the old part of the city and the Palamidi Castle. Nafplio was the first Capital City of Modern Greece for a few years after Greece's Independence from the Ottoman Empire. Stay overnight in Nafplio.

DAY 3: NAFPLIO – MYCENAE – EPIDAURUS - ATHENS

The following day, we will drive to our next visit to the Archaeological site of Mycenae, the Palace of Agamemnon, the Museum, and the Treasure of Atreus.
The next stop will be at the Archaeological Site of Epidaurus, where you will visit the Museum, the famous Theatre with its incredible acoustic, and the archaeological site of Asclepιeion, an ancient hospital named after the god of medicine Asclepius.
After we visit Epidaurus, we can have lunch in a scenic environment on the way back to Athens. We'll arrive in Athens in the late afternoon.

The following day, we can visit the Palamidi Castle before we drive to our next destination, the Archaeological site of Mystras, the ruins of a fortified Byzantine Town built at the foot of Mount Taygetos in the 12th century, just 5 km from the city of Sparta. We can have lunch there or back in Sparta before we visit the Archaeological Museum. Stay overnight in Sparta. 

DAY 3: SPARTA – MONEMVASIA - ATHENS

The next day, we will drive to Monemvasia, the second most famous fortified Town of the Peloponnese. It was founded in the 6th century.
We can visit the townlet with the narrow streets and enjoy a traditional meal overlooking the Aegean Sea. Later, we will drive back to Sparta and visit the Memorial of the famous King of Sparta, Leonidas, and the Museum of the Olive and Greek Olive Oil. After this, we'll return to Athens in the late afternoon.

DAY 2: ANCIENT OLYMPIA – DELPHI

The next day, we will visit the archaeological site, the stadium where the ancient Olympic games were held, and the two museums on the site, the Archaeological Museum and the Olympic Museum. Also, we can visit the Technological Museum of Archimedes in the village of Olympia. After our visit, we can have lunch in Olympia and then drive to Patra, where we will visit the Historic – since 1861 – Achaia Clauss Winery. (optional). Leaving the winery and the city of Patra behind us, we’ll drive over the suspended bridge of Rio, the longest in Europe (3,200 m), cross over to Mainland Greece, and have a short stop at the picturesque city of Nafpaktos before we carry on the coastal road of the Corinthian Gulf, one of the most beautiful and scenic roads in the World, with a final stop the village of Delphi. Stay overnight in Delphi. 

DAY 3: DELPHI – ARACHOVA - ATHENS

The following day, we will visit the Archaeological site at Delphi that includes the Temple of Apollo, the most famous Oracle of the Ancient World for more than 16 centuries, the Theater, the Stadium in which they used to host the athletic events of Pythia, the Holy fountain of Castalia and the Archaeological Museum. Delphi has been on the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites since 1987. After we visit the site, we can have a traditional lunch in Delphi and a quick stop in the very scenic and traditional village of Arachova before we return to Athens in the late afternoon.

DAY 1: ATHENS – DELPHI

Our driver will pick you up from your hotel, and we'll start your Private Tour by moving North out of Athens towards Delphi. The first stop will be before Delphi at the monastery of Hosios Lucas, located in a beautiful area close to Distomo. This ornate Byzantine-style monastery dates back to the 11th century and features mosaics and frescoes. After we visit the monastery, we will visit the Archaeological site at Delphi, which includes the Temple of Apollo, the most famous Oracle of the Ancient World for more than 16 centuries, the Theater, the Stadium in which they used to host the athletic events of Pythia, the Holy Fountain of Castalia, and the Archaeological Museum. Delphi has been on the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites since 1987. Stay overnight in Delphi. 

DAY 2: DELPHI – METEORA

The following morning, after breakfast, we will drive to cross the Holy mountain of Parnassus towards Meteora, a place uniquely sculptured by nature.
We'll stay overnight in the town of Kalambaka, nestled beneath the Mountain, and view the spectacular sight of the Mountain lit by night.

DAY 3: METEORA – THERMOPYLAE - ATHENS

After breakfast, we will visit a few monasteries that perch atop the magnificent rocks, reaching up to 600 m. UNESCO has characterized the monasteries of Meteora as a unique phenomenon of cultural heritage and included them in the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites in 1988. After our visit, we can have lunch in the town of Kalambaka and then return to Athens with a short stop at the memorial of the battlefield of Thermopylae and the monument of the Spartan King Leonidas, who fought with his 300 men and the 700 Thespians of Demophilos, against hundreds of thousands of Persians and all the Greeks were killed. In the late afternoon, we will arrive back in Athens.
