Itinerary

DAY 1: ARRIVAL

Transfer to Hotel

DAY 2: ATHENS CITY TOUR (5-6 HOURS) AND SOUNION (Optional - FULL DAY 8-9 HOURS)

On the second day, we will start with a city tour by visiting the Acropolis, which has unique architectural monuments, and the Acropolis Museum. Next, visit the Temple of Zeus and the Panathinaikon Stadium and finish the tour in Plaka (4 - 6 hours). If you want to include Sounio, we'll drive along the scenic coastline of Attica until we reach the Temple of Poseidon (duration with Sounio 8 - 9 hours). Late afternoon, we will return to Athens.

DAY 3: ATHENS – CORINTH CANAL – EPIDAURUS - NAFPLIO 

We leave Athens and drive towards the region of the Peloponnese. After a quick stop at the Corinth Canal, we will move to Epidaurus and visit the famous Theatre with its incredible acoustics and the archaeological site of Asclepιeion, an ancient hospital and sanctuary named after the god of medicine Asclepius. The next stop will be the city of Nafplio, the first Capital of Modern Greece for a few years after Greece gained independence from the Ottoman Empire. Have lunch in the old part of the Town, and visit the tourist area on the narrow streets of this traditional part of Nafplio. Stay overnight in Nafplio. 

DAY 4: NAFPLIO – MYCENAE – KALAMATA OR ANCIENT OLYMPIA 

After we leave Nafplio, we will visit the nearby Archaeological site of Mycenae, which has the ruins of the Palace of Agamemnon, the Museum, and the Treasure of Atreus. We will then drive to the next stop, Ancient Olympia (or Kalamata, depending on hotel availability). 

DAY 5: KALAMATA - ANCIENT OLYMPIA - ZAKYNTHOS 

Day five in Olympia. We will visit the archaeological site, the stadium where the ancient Olympic games were held, and the two museums on the site, the Archaeological Museum and the Olympic Museum. Also, in Olympia, we can visit the Technological Museum of Archimedes. After lunch, we can drive to the Port of Kyllini, where we will take the afternoon ferry to the island of Zakynthos. There, we will stay for the next two nights. Stay overnight in Zakynthos. 

DAY 6: ZAKYNTHOS 

The following day, we can tour the island by visiting the Blue Caves and the famous Shipwreck, and later, after we have lunch, we will drive to the Gulf of Laganas and maybe swim with the sea turtles, or we can take a tourist boat for a cruise trip around Zakynthos. Upon arrival on the island, you book your choice of activity at the port. Stay overnight in Zakynthos.

DAY 7: ZAKYNTHOS - NAFPAKTOS - DODONI - IOANNINA 

The next day, we take the Ferry back to Kyllini, travel towards Patra, and drive over the suspended bridge of Rio, the longest in Europe (3,200 m). We will cross to Mainland Greece and have a short stop at the picturesque city of Nafpaktos before we carry on north to the Archaeological site of Dodoni, with a final stop at the city of Ioannina. We will stay overnight in Ioannina.

DAY 8: IOANNINA - ZAGORI - VICOS GORGE - METEORA

The next day, our first stop will be at the Gorge of Vikos (the deepest Gorge in the world, in analogy, by its length), a short drive to the picturesque villages of the Zagori region with beautiful arch bridges. Then, we will drive back to Ioannina and travel towards Metsovo, where we can have a short stop with a final destination, the Town of Kalambaka, where we will stay overnight beneath the rocks of Meteora and view the spectacular sight of the Rocks lit by night. Stay overnight in Kalambaka.

DAY 9:   METEORA - THESSALONIKI 

The following morning, we will start by visiting two of the monasteries that perch on the top of the magnificent rocks, reaching up to 600 m. UNESCO has characterized the monasteries of Meteora as a unique phenomenon of cultural heritage and included them in the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites in 1988. After this visit, we will leave behind the rocks of Meteora and travel north toward the city of Thessaloniki, where we will stay for the next two nights. 

DAY 10:  THESSALONIKI – PELLA – MIEZA – VERGINA 

The next day, we will visit Pella and the Archaeological Museum. Pella was the new Capital City of Macedonia founded by Philippe, the father of Alexander the Great. After Pella, the next stop will be the school of Aristotle in Mieza, where Alexander studied for seven years under the great philosopher. Then, we'll travel to Veroia with a short stop at the Altar of Saint Paul before our next visit to Aigai, the Archaeological site of Vergina with the Palace and the Tomb of King Philippe of Macedonia. There we can have lunch before we return to Thessaloniki.

DAY 11:   THESSALONIKI CITY TOUR (4 - 6 HOURS)

Thessaloniki City Tour - Upper City - White Tower - St. Dimitrios Metropolis Church - Rotonda - Galerius Arch. (Duration 4 - 6 Hours).

DAY 12:   THESSALONIKI – DION – THERMOPYLAE - DELPHI 

On the final day of our tour, we will leave Thessaloniki and visit the Archaeological site of Dion and the Archaeological Museum situated at the foot of Mount Olympus. After our visit, we will drive towards Delphi, with a short stop at the monument of the Spartan King Leonidas, next to the battlefield of Thermopylae. We will stay overnight in Delphi.

DAY 13:  DELPHI - ARACHOVA - ATHENS

The following day, we will visit the Archaeological site at Delphi, which includes the Temple of Apollo, the most famous Oracle of the Ancient World for more than 16 centuries, the Theater, the Stadium, and the Archaeological Museum. Delphi has been on the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites since 1987. After Delphi, we will have a very short stop at the scenic and traditional village of Arachova before returning to Athens in the late afternoon.

DAY 14: ATHENS - AEGINA

Aegina Day cruise. Stay overnight in Athens.

DAY 15: ATHENS

Leisure day in Athens. Stay overnight in Athens.

DAY 16: DEPARTURE

Transfer to the Airport.

Itinerary

DAY 1: ARRIVAL

Transfer to the Hotel 

DAY 2: ATHENS CITY TOUR (5-6 HOURS) AND SOUNION (Optional - FULL DAY 8-9 HOURS)

If you want to include Sounio, we'll drive along the scenic coastline of Attica until we reach the Temple of Poseidon (duration with Sounio 8 - 9 hours). Late afternoon, we'll return to Athens.

DAY 4: NAFPLIO – MYCENAE – KALAMATA OR ANCIENT OLYMPIA 

After we leave Nafplio, we will visit the nearby Archaeological site of Mycenae, which has the ruins of the Palace of Agamemnon, the Museum, and the Treasure of Atreus. We will then drive to the next stop, Ancient Olympia (or Kalamata, according to Hotel availability). 

DAY 5: ANCIENT OLYMPIA - ZAKYNTHOS 

Day five in Olympia. We will visit the archaeological site, the stadium where the ancient Olympic games were held, and the two museums on the site, the Archaeological Museum and the Olympic Museum. Also, in Olympia, we can visit the Technological Museum of Archimedes. After lunch, we can drive to the Port of Kyllini, from where we will take the afternoon Ferry to the island of Zakynthos. There, we will stay for the next two nights. Stay overnight in Zakynthos. 

DAY 6: ZAKYNTHOS 

The following day, we can tour the island by visiting the Blue Caves and the famous Shipwreck. Later, after lunch, we'll drive to the Gulf of Laganas and maybe swim with the sea turtles. We can also take a tourist boat for a cruise trip around Zakynthos. Upon arrival on the island, you book your choice of activity at the port. Stay overnight in Zakynthos. 

DAY 7: ZAKYNTHOS - DELPHI 

The next day, we will travel towards Patra and drive over the suspended bridge of Rio, the longest in Europe (3,200 m). Cross to Mainland Greece and have a short stop at the picturesque city of Nafpaktos before we carry on the coastal road of the Corinthian Gulf, with a final stop at the village of Delphi. Stay overnight in Delphi.

DAY 8: DELPHI – ARACHOVA - METEORA 

The following day, the first stop will be at the Archaeological site of Delphi, which includes the Temple of Apollo, the most famous Oracle of the Ancient World for more than 16 centuries, the Theater, the Stadium, and the Archaeological Museum. Delphi has been on the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites since 1987. Later, we will drive to the picturesque Arachova for a quick stop before we cross the Holy mountain of Parnassus towards Meteora, a place uniquely sculptured by nature. Stay overnight in Kalambaka.

DAY 9: METEORA – THERMOPYLAE - ATHENS - CRETE 

After breakfast, we will visit the monasteries on top of the magnificent rocks, reaching up to 600 m. UNESCO has characterized the monasteries of Meteora as a unique phenomenon of cultural heritage and included them in the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites in 1988. After our visit, we can have lunch in the Town of Kalambaka and then return to Athens with a short stop at the monument of the Spartan King Leonidas, next to the battlefield of Thermopylae. Returning to Athens, we will catch a flight to Heraklion in Crete, where you will stay overnight.

DAY 10: CRETE - HERAKLION - KNOSSOS - PFAISTOS

Next morning, we'll drive to Knossos, the ruins of the Minoan civilization, and the Palace of King Minos. Then we'll visit the Archaeological Site of Phaistos.
According to Diodorus Sikeliotis, Phaistos and Knossos were two of the three Cities founded by King Minos on Crete. Both were important centers of the Minoan civilization, a significant Bronze Age power and have been on the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites since 2014. Returning to Heraklion, we'll visit the Archaeological Museum.

DAY 11: CRETE - SANTORINI

From Heraklion port, we will take the ferry to Santorini, and at the port, our driver will pick you up and transfer you to your hotel. Enjoy the rest of your day at your leisure, taking in the sights of the island, spending the day at the beach, visiting the thermal spa, or taking a bus to Oia and watching the legendary Sunset. You can also take a Sunset Cruise to the Volcano with a buffet on board and enjoy the Sunset relaxing on the deck of a cruise boat. Upon arrival on the island, you can book your choice of activity.

DAY 12: SANTORINI

The following day, our driver will pick you up from your hotel for a tour of the island and one of the many wineries (optional). You can visit the archaeological site of Akrotiri. Akrotiri was a Minoan site enveloped in ash after the Volcano's eruption in the 17th century BC, destroying the Minoan civilization. Stay overnight in Santorini.

DAY 13: SANTORINI - ATHENS

Our driver will meet you at your hotel to transfer you to Santorini airport and fly to Athens. Meet you at the Athens airport and transfer you to your hotel in Athens. You will have the rest of your day to relax or go shopping. Stay overnight in Athens.

DAY 14: ATHENS - AEGINA

Aegina Day cruise. Stay overnight in Athens.

DAY 15:   ATHENS

Leisure day in Athens. Stay overnight in Athens.

DAY 16:   DEPARTURE

Transfer to the Airport.
