Itinerary

DAY 1: DELPHI – ARACHOVA - METEORA

Our driver will pick you up from your hotel, and we will start your private tour by moving north out of Athens and towards Delphi.
Our first stop will be the Archaeological site of Delphi, which includes the Temple of Apollo, the most famous Oracle of the Ancient World for more than 16 centuries, the Theater, the Stadium that hosted the athletic events of Pythia, the Holy Fountain of Castalia, and the Archaeological Museum. Delphi has been on the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites since 1987.
After you visit the site, you can have a traditional lunch at the village of Delphi. Later, we'll drive to the picturesque town of Arachova for a quick stop before we cross the Holy Mountain of Parnassus towards Meteora, a place uniquely sculptured by nature. We'll stay overnight in the town of Kalambaka, nestled beneath the Mountain, and view the spectacular sight of the rocky Mountain lit by night.

DAY 2: METEORA - THESSALONIKI

The following morning, we will visit a few monasteries that perch atop the magnificent rocks, reaching up to 600 m. UNESCO has characterized the monasteries of Meteora as a unique phenomenon of cultural heritage and included them in the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites in 1988. After this visit, we can have Lunch in the town of Kalambaka, and then we'll leave behind the rocks of Meteora and travel north towards the city of Thessaloniki, where we will stay for the next two nights. After you check into your hotel, we will go on a city tour of Thessaloniki. Stay overnight in Thessaloniki.

DAY 3: THESSALONIKI – PELLA –  MIEZA – VEROIA - VERGINA

The next day, after breakfast, we will visit the town of Pella and the Archaeological Museum. Pella was the new Capital City of Macedonia founded by Philippe, the father of Alexander the Great.  
The next stop will be the school of Aristotle in Mieza, where Alexander studied for seven years under the great philosopher.
Then, we'll travel to Veroia, with a short stop at the Altar of Saint Paul, before we visit Aigai, the Archaeological site of Vergina with the Palace and the Tomb of King Philippe of Macedonia. There, we can have Lunch before returning to Thessaloniki. We will stay overnight in Thessaloniki. 

DAY 4: THESSALONIKI – NEA FOKEA – PFILIPPI - KAVALA

The next day, we will leave Thessaloniki and drive to Nea Fokea to visit Saint Paul's Agiasma (a catacomb).
We can have Lunch there before continuing to the Archaeological site of Philippi and Lydia's Baptistery. After our visit, we will drive to the City of Kavala for the night.

DAY 4: KAVALA – AMPHIPOLI - THESSALONIKI

Before we leave Kavala the next day, we will visit the Altar of Saint Paul and the city's castle. On our way back to Thessaloniki, we'll stop at the archaeological site of Amphipolis and, later, go on a small city tour in Thessaloniki after you have Lunch and check into your hotel. Stay overnight in Thessaloniki. 

DAY 6: THESSALONIKI – DION – THERMOPYLAE - ATHENS

The next day, we will leave Thessaloniki and visit the Archaeological site of Dion and the Archaeological Museum at the foot of Mount Olympus.
Then we'll leave Dion to return to Athens with a short stop at the memorial of the battlefield of Thermopylae, the monument of the Spartan King Leonidas, who fought with his 300 men and the 700 Thespians of Demophilos against hundreds of thousands of Persians and all the Greeks were killed. In the late afternoon, we will arrive back in Athens.

DAY 1: ATHENS – CORINTH CANAL – EPIDAURUS - NAFPLIO

Our driver will pick you up from your hotel, and we will start your Private Tour by moving west out of Athens, following the coastal road to Corinth.
The first stop will be the Isthmus of Corinth, where the Canal connecting the Saronic with the Corinthian Gulf will be seen.
Very Impressive engineering at the end of the 19th century when the Canal was constructed, and it is 6,2 km long, 80 m high, and 25 m wide.
Periandros first attempted to open a canal there in the 6th century BC. Later, Roman Emperor Nero started the excavations again—an expensive project abandoned soon after his death.
From the 6th century BC, a paved road called Diolkos was built following the landscape between the two gulfs from side to side so they could pull the ships over the land, avoiding the dangerous and long way around the Peloponnese.
The next stop will be at the Archaeological Site of Epidaurus, where you will visit the Museum, the famous Theatre with its incredible acoustic, and the archaeological site of Asclepιeion, an ancient hospital named after the god of medicine Asclepius.
The next stop will be the Nafplio, the first Capital of Modern Greece for a few years after Greece gained independence from the Ottoman Empire.
We can have lunch in the Old Town and visit the tourist area on the narrow streets of this traditional part of Nafplio. We will stay overnight in Nafplio. 

DAY 2: NAFPLIO – MYCENAE – ANCIENT OLYMPIA

The next day, we can visit the Palamidi Castle before we drive to the Archaeological site of Mycenae, where we will visit the Palace of Agamemnon, the Archaeological Museum, and the Treasure of Atreus. Our next stop will be the village of Olympia. We will stay overnight in Olympia. 

DAY 3: ANCIENT OLYMPIA - ZAKYNTHOS

The next day, we will visit the archaeological site, the stadium where the Olympic Games used to take place, and the two museums of the site, the Archaeological Museum and the Olympic Museum. We can also visit the Technological Museum of Archimedes in the village of Olympia. Afterward, we can have lunch in Olympia and later drive to the Port of Kyllini, from where we will take the afternoon Ferry to the island of Zakynthos. There we will stay for the next two nights.

DAY 4: ZAKYNTHOS

The next day we can tour the island by visiting the Blue Caves and the famous Shipwreck and later after we have lunch, we can go to the Gulf of Laganas and maybe swim with the sea turtles, or we can take a tourist boat and take a round trip of Zakynthos.
Upon arrival on the island, you book your choice of activity at the port. Stay overnight in Zakynthos. 

DAY 5: ZAKYNTHOS - DELPHI

The next day, early morning, we’ll take the Ferry back to Kyllini, travel towards Patra, and drive over the suspended bridge of Rio, the longest in Europe (3,200 m). We’ll cross to Mainland Greece and have a short stop at the picturesque city of Nafpaktos before we carry on the coastal road of the Corinthian Gulf, one of the most beautiful and scenic roads in the World, with a final stop at the village of Delphi. Stay overnight in Delphi.

DAY 6: DELPHI – ARACHOVA - ATHENS

The following day, we will visit the Archaeological site at Delphi that includes the Temple of Apollo, the most famous Oracle of the Ancient World for more than 16 centuries, the Theater, the Stadium in which they used to host the athletic events of Pythia, the Holy fountain of Castalia and the Archaeological Museum. Delphi has been on the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites since 1987.
After we visit the site, we can have a traditional lunch at the village of Delphi and a quick stop at the very scenic and traditional village of Arachova before we return to Athens in the late afternoon.

The next day, we will visit the Archaeological site of Mystras, the ruins of a fortified Byzantine Town built at the foot of Mount Taygetos in the 12th century, just 5 km from the city of Sparta. We can have lunch there or back in Sparta before we visit the Archaeological Museum, the Memorial and the Statue of the famous King of Sparta Leonidas, and the Museum of the Olive and Greek Olive Oil. Later, we'll drive to the next most famous fortified Town of the Peloponnese, Monemvasia, founded in the 6th century. We can visit the little town with narrow streets and enjoy a traditional meal overlooking the Aegean Sea. Stay overnight in Monemvasia.

DAY 3: MONEMVASIA – CAVES OF DIROS – ANCIENT OLYMPIA

The next day, we will drive south to the Mani region and visit one of the most beautiful Caves in Greece, the Cave of Diros. The visit is by boat for the first 1200m and the last 300m on foot, the cave's extent being about 14km.
The next stop will be the coastal village of Stupa, where we can have lunch next to the sea. After lunch, we will drive to Kalamata for a quick stop before we reach our final destination for the day, the village of Olympia. Stay overnight in Olympia.

DAY 4: ANCIENT OLYMPIA - DELPHI

The next day, we will visit the archaeological site, the stadium where the ancient Olympic games were held, and the two museums on the site, the Archaeological Museum and the Olympic Museum. Also, we can visit the Technological Museum of Archimedes in the village of Olympia. After our visit, we can have lunch in Olympia and then drive to Patra, where we will visit the Historic – since 1861 – Achaia Clauss Winery. (optional). The next day, we will visit the Archaeological site of Bassae and the Temple of Epikourios Apollon, also known as the Second Parthenon.
In this bare, rocky landscape, 1131 meters above sea level, the people of Phigaleia founded a sanctuary in honor of Apollo. A sacred road connected the sanctuary with the city, nearly thirteen kilometers away. The sanctuary was dominated by one of the most imposing monuments of ancient Greece: the temple of Apollo Epikourios, whose cult was established in the late eighth-early-seventh century BC. The next stop will be the village of Olympia. Stay overnight in Olympia.

(optional). Leaving the winery and the city of Patra behind us, we'll drive over the suspended bridge of Rio, the longest in Europe (3,200 m), and cross to Mainland Greece, then travel North until the beautiful city of Ioannina. Stay overnight in Ioannina. 

DAY 4: IOANNINA – ZAGOROCHORIA – VIKOS GORGE - METEORA

The following day, our first stop will be the Gorge of Vikos (the deepest Gorge in the world, in analogy with its length). We will then drive briefly to the picturesque villages of the Zagori region with their beautiful arch bridges. Then, we'll drive back to Ioannina to visit the Cave of Perama. Our final stop will be the city of Kalambaka, nested beneath the magnificent Rocks of Meteora. We will stay overnight in Kalambaka. 

DAY 5: METEORA – THERMOPYLAE - DELPHI

After breakfast, we will visit a few monasteries that perch atop magnificent rocks reaching up to 600 m. UNESCO characterized the monasteries of Meteora as a unique cultural heritage phenomenon and included them in the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites in 1988. After our visit, we can have lunch in the Town of Kalambaka and then drive towards Delphi with a short stop at the battlefield of Thermopylae, at the monument of the Spartan King Leonidas, who fought with his 300 men and the 700 Thespians of Demophilos against hundreds of thousands of Persians and all the Greeks were killed. Then, we'll cross the Holy Mount of Parnassus and arrive in Delphi late afternoon. We'll stay overnight in Delphi.

DAY 6: DELPHI – ARACHOVA - ATHENS

The following day, we will visit the Archaeological site at Delphi that includes the Temple of Apollo, the most famous Oracle of the Ancient World for more than 16 centuries, the Theater, the Stadium in which they used to host the athletic events of Pythia, the Holy fountain of Castalia and the Archaeological Museum. Delphi has been on the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites since 1987. After we visit the site, we can have a traditional lunch in Delphi and a quick stop in the very scenic and traditional village of Arachova before we return to Athens in the late afternoon.
